I was just doing some maintenance on my site and found the following in an individual album.  It has 3 categories (there are 3 media objects, 2 photos and 1 census (tagged as microfilm).  There are 3 categories.  The 2 photos are in the photo category, next is a Census category with the image of the census, and then a 3rd category that says Not in DB, and has the image of the census surrounded by a blue box.   The only difference from the 2nd and 3rd is that the Not in DB one has the number (M828) above the image, where it does not in the Census category.

    Any ideas or help?

    Thanks,
    Doc

    Hi Steve,

I suspect if you do a raw GEDCOM edit on this individual you may find you have the line
x  OBJE @M828@ (where x is the level you placed this media at) duplicated.

The section Not in DB also means items that are perhaps duplicated in your GEDCOM will appear here.
(I thought I had changed this text in PGV svn .. perhaps not, I am so busy with webtrees at the moment)

Anyway, have a look and let me know if this is the case.
If so just delete the duplicate entry when RAW editing the GEDCOM.

However, don't delete a line that looks like:
    1 _PGV_OBJS @M828@
This is just a sort element generated by PGV when you re-order your media using the function "RE-ORDER MEDIA"

Thanks Brian,  I did find duplicates in the GEDCOM, so I will delete them.  How they got there is another question for another time :-)

Just a last word (and no reply needed)

The following may not be in your case Steve, but is intended for any others following this thread.

Duplicates can happen when you do a PGV generated GEDCOM import and choose KEEP MEDIA LINKS = YES.
Gerry has had a raft of questions about this as to understand it is a bit complicated for the average user.
In short ALWAYS use  KEEP MEDIA LINKS = NO.
    UNLESS
You are importing a fresh GEDCOM from another product, and have taken advice, and know why you have selected YES.

    Brian
