Recently, I started to get an error when uploading media files:
Thumbnail media/thumbs/test123.jpg could not be generated automatically.
I'm running PhpGedView 4.1.6 and have been for a while. My guess is that my web hosting company made a change and now PhpGedView can't find whatever it needs to generate thumbnails. What could cause PhpGedView to display this kind of error?
Thanks,
Enrico

If your permissions on the thumb folder are OK (full read/write - same as the entire Media folder and its contents), then you are trying to use too large an image and you have maxed out memory limits while trying to create the thumbnail. After confirming your permission settings, try to add a very small (10-15k) jpg image and see if you still receive a thumbnail error.
