When navigating my site hosted on my pc using Apache HTTP Server 2.0.47 & phpgedview 2.51, about every other page comes up with a "Cannot find Server" error. If I hit refresh on the browser, the pages pops right up. What could be causing this? The link follows:
I also didn't have any problems accessing your site.
This might happen if you are using the browser on the host computer.
The other reason this could be happening is a poor connection to your DNS server. The DNS server translates bjadams.homedns.org to your IP address. If the DNS server is slow or unresponsive it may not return the IP address.
I've also experienced this on my personal site when I had to renew my DNS name and change DNS servers. It can take several days for DNS servers across the internet to update their entries when a change like this is made.
One of the things you can do is edit your WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file and manually add an entry for bjadams.homedns.org to its ip address. Then your computer won't have to look it up.

Well, I figured it out. It turns out that either phpgedview or my mysql server didn't like page caching. I turned off that function in AdShield & everything loaded perfectly. Did some tests by turning it back on, & the Cannot Find Server messages popped up again... Wierd. Any thoughts on this? Hopefully, someone else with the same problem will read this.
Thanks again for the replies,

Hi bja
For what it's worth I visited and browsed around at your site using both IE6 and MozillaFirebird.
During my visit your site never failed to serve me the requested page.
best regard
Arne

Thanks for the response. I tried it at work & it worked just fine also. I'll add the line to my hosts file & hopefully that will fix it.
Now if I could just connect to my mysql server!!
Thanks,
bja
