I've been using phpGedView for quite some years, but I get distracted with other things for a month or five. Then I work the update using svn, generally doing a fast-review of changes in each rev. If I'm feeling particularly trustworthy, I go for the gold and update to the latest.

Tonight I incremented from 7252 to 7268, then started skipping by about 5 at a time - with "smoke tests" after each update, to the latest 7290.

I did not detect any changes in behavior that would make me work backward through the list.

    Fantastic work Gerry,

    Thank you.

I've had a lot of help behind the scenes, to find all those "undocumented features" introduced by the kind folks who "maintain" the PHP language. Particular thanks go to SourceForge user 'imsz', without whose unwavering co-operation none of the "undocumented features" introduced by PHP 7.4 and PHP 8 would have been caught and resolved. There were others too, of course.

I don't have access to any PHP version higher than 7.0.something. It's not likely that I ever will, either, unless I switch to a different hosting provider. That ain't gonna happen unless my provider goes bust.

Anyway: It's a good thing you're only using PhpGedView in English. You wouldn't believe the mess the other languages are in. I've been at the various European languages for over 2 months now. Another couple of weeks to go. You'll see improvements in CA DA DE EN ES FR IT NL PT NO SV .
(Yes! even EN ) . Google Translate has been a big help here, but even they take some strange liberties that have to be sorted out. To me, it's very obvious when Google makes a mistake.

Stay tuned. After that, I have to look at the Reports system. User imsz has sent me some updates that need to be examined before they can make it into the SVN repository. Nothing gets in there without lots of checks beforehand.
