How does PGV check privacy if there are no BIRT/DEAT records?
Looks like it does the right thing in at least one case.
I created an INDI from a tax list. So the only event/attribute I could add was RESI. Of course, that implies birth some time earlier than that, but I did not explicitly list BIRT.
I was surprised to see that I could get to the record while logged out. Which is good, but I was expecting it to be private.

I'm not entirely sure of the calculations used but I think it boils down to making an estimate of the DoB and then adding the number of years you have set in the config for assuming death.
I haven't really gone into it to check but I think if the indi has a child with a birth date then it gives an estimate for the parent of 30 years earlier. And I suppose the reverse may be true also.

Wes, you didn't say, but I presume you've entered a RESI with a date > MAX_AGE years ago. Hence the person is alive. If there is no birth, then death is worked out based on the oldest event + MAX AGE.

I haven't used it extensively to know for sure but It seems that TNG just goes by a user setting if there is no DoB. I decided to set it to "living" because I have quite a few indis that are living, or I'm just not sure of, where I don't know the DoB. So you have to make sure DEAT Y is set for others. Kind of an unsatisfactory way to do it.

IIRC;
privacy calcs assume the earliest/latest possible age.
estimated dates on lists try to give a realistic estimate, based on usual ages to get married, have children, etc.

I think you mean "hence the person is not alive."
Yes. If Joe lives in OurTown in 1865, then clearly he was born before 1865.
I was gratified to see that the estimating occurred, but it would not have surprised me if they did not.
