Does this sound Familiar?  Well I think I found out how to fix it, and I'm an idiot for missing this.

"Fatal error: Call to a member function canDisplayDetails() on a non-object in /var/www/html/phpgedview/includes/controllers/remotelink_ctrl.php on line 421"

I thought I would never get this to work,  when I found something.....

In one of my questions, I was asked If I was the Admin of the Gedcom,  I thought for sure I had set all the Privacy settings correctly... then I ran across one more.

Under the "Update User account" for the admin of the site.   there is the "Access Level"   setting.   After you upload/create your new Gedcom,  I found I have to go here and using the drop down, set my level to "Admin Gedcom"

After that I can do all the remote linking I want!

Mea Culpu for missing this in the past!

The only issue I see now... is after I merge records... I get duplication on the Birth/death etc, and also i got both GUID's

That would be because you had the same person already existing on both GEDCOM fies. You need to delete them from one, then recreate them using 'link remote person'.

If you want to use the "same person' link, then the the one you are linking FROM should have no data in it except an INDI number, unless you are sure that daya doesn't exist on the GEDCOM you are linking TO. Otherwise you will, as you have found, end up wiht both sets of data.

Remote linking does just what it says, it doesn't merge the records.
