As the administrator of the phpGedView project on sourceforge, I don't have any control to change users personal monitoring settings.
There are two ways that I know of to stop and start monitoring. The first is to the click the monitor forum link above. Supposedly it will toggle your monitoring status on or off. Unfortunately it doesn't give you a message as to whether you are monitoring or not monitoring.
The best way is to log in to source forge and click on the "My sf.net" link. There is a section in their for all of the things you are monitoring. Clicking the trashcans by the items you know longer want to monitor will stop the monitoring.
Sorry that I can't be of more help,

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Can someone help me? I'm trying to get this monitoring thing to stop -
I do not want to monitor this discussion anymore, but this thing won;t let me quit - Can anybody help?
presumably clicking the link above named
"my sf.net"
then scrolling down to the section
"Monitored Forums"
and clicking the dustbin icon next to
"open discussion"
doesn't work.
Have you got more than one login to sourceforge? Make sure you're logged in with the one that's subscribed to the monitoring.
else you'd better ask SourceForge.
