A longtime PGV user/admin has just completed a near one year project to rewrite ALL the reports (and include a demo report for creative programmers) which is a real boon to improving both the PDF and HTML report results. These improvements are now posted in SVN, and will be included "free of charge", in the next stable release - v4.2.2, expected by Aug 8/9 and perhaps a few days earlier.
I'm confident that all PGV admin/users will rejoice when you get to experience these major enhancements..
I've just started playing with these but HALLELUAH. Copy no longer covers itself (good spacing), proper margins and page layout. THANKS - and yes I'm yelling.

I would like to thank this anonymous contributor for the vast improvement to the reports. It was no small effort. Reports had been neglected for a long time, and it is great to see this checkin in SVN.

This is great, the results have improved a lot. Line breaks in particular now make sense, something that made the previous reincarnation very deficient.
Still, surname compression (used on pedigrees, for instance) does not make sense for Spanish as it is written now, it just keeps the last word in the surname, while the one kept should be the first in the surname (not counting surname prefix, of course). Should this be a setting or is it generally applicable?

WOW. I'm going to have to take time from entering data to update my theme so I can get the latest SVN. The reports have always frustrated me to the point of actually buying a commercial script that had nicer looking reports but didn't have a lot of other features that PGV does. If I can quit downloading a gedcom to Family Tree Maker every time I need to make a report I will be extremely impressed and grateful! I feel like it's Xmas :)

I concur. The author has excelled himself.

The algorithm used by the reports to abbreviate names is very simplistic. I only discovered it a few weeks ago (I don't use it myself).
It needs to be part of the PGV main code, rather than reports, so it can be reused elsewhere.
Coding anything should be pretty easy. Designing suitable logic that works with all languages could be harder.... Feel free to make suggestions.
