    The system behaves more or less the same way to visitors
    who have not logged in to PGV.

    I experienced this phenominom on my test site a few days
    back but I thought it was limited to my machine, but it now
    seems to be a more serious problem as both Meliza and Tom
    have reported experiencing the same behavior.

    What is happening is that for some reason PHP does not
    finishing processing the page. Admin users do not seem to be
    affected by this problem which is also baffling...

    My site can end up getting so confused that there is no
    response at all when you visit
    http://www.hawsedc.com/phpGedView. But here is a clue: if
    you visit http://www.hawsedc.com/phpGedView/login.php, you
    get the full login page. At that same time I checked in
    the mySQL database and found a u_sessiontime entry in the
    users table for user tommy, whom I had logged out. Also I
    have set my sessiontime to 60 seconds, so I would suppose
    logins would expired rapidly.

    In general at the moment my site is actly so strange that it
    is hard to isolate the problem(s). As mentioned, the only
    way I get good behavior is to log in as THE admin or as AN
    other admin (if there is a difference).

    Visitors see:
    -No GEDCOM favorites in block
    -No login block
    -Yes News
    -Yes stats
    -One of the three GEDCOMs totally blanked out (Shumway)
    Only header.html displayed. No menus or below.

    Logged in users (user tommy, pw developer) see:
    -no My Account
    -no My Pedigree
    -no My Indi
    - function checknames(frm) { if (frm.lastname.value=="") {
    alert(" <<<< in response to Search
    (http://www.hawsedc.com/phpGedView/search.php?action=general&query=Gail).
    -Yes MyGedview Portal, and yes Customize it, but no
    resulting display blocks and info.

    Here is what is being left in mySQL table users when user
    tommy leaves:

    u_reg_timestamp = 1080832056
    u_sessiontime = 1080838370

    All other users u_sessiontime = 0

    I figured out the problem...

    It had to do with the is_dead privacy setting and the record
    caching in memory. It was a difficult problem to solve.
    Because it was related to privacy that is why the admin
    didn't have any problems. Other pages worked where lots of
    families didn't need to be cached.

    You can use the attached functions_mysql.php file to fix the
    problem. This file is also in the CVS.
