On the English page I do not see top surname letters Å, Ä, Ö.
I see the names Äppel, Åkerman and Öhman under A and O in the surname list.
I do not see the individuals under A and O in the skip surname list. This is wrong.
For (unknown) surname I see the top given-name letter Å on the English page and given name Åke under it.
Is this as it should be or should we see this name under top given name letter A in a similar way to the surname behavior?
I look at the Finnish page and I see the top surname letters Å, Ä, Ö with the surnames and skip surname names on the pages. When I change the language to English, I am transferred to the A page. Only the Å and Ä surnames can be found there.
I look at the Hungarian page at top surname SZ surnames or skip surnames.
When I change the page language to English, I am transferred to the A page.
We have similar issues for names with accented and other special first letters. Samples are Łukasz and Żmuda.
Normally when I change the language to English, I remain on the page that I saw before. I remain on the original page when I change the page language to languages that are not English.

I guess we need to decide what *should* be done.
The collation is dependent on the language. In some langauges, certain letters with diacritic marks are considered separate letters. For example, in scandinavian languages, "ø" is a separate letter. In others, it is just the same as an "o".
Therefore, you could be on the finnish page for "ø", and see names starting with "ø". When you switch to english, there will be no names beginning with "ø" (because they should all be listed under "o").
Similarly with ligatures such as "æ" or languages that treat pairs of letters as a single one.

Also, how often will normal users (as opposed to software testers) switch language? Won't they just pick their prefered language and stick with it?
We still do not show the name Äppel on the English skip surname list under letter A or under any letter.
In the surname list it is printed under A.
If I hit the surname Äppel in the surname list, I see all the Äppel individuals. No top letter is highlighted.
This should at least work when we do not switch languages.
The indilist code has been completely rewritten since the last comment.
Why do I see Æ and Ø in the English page top letters?
I do not see there Ä, Ö or Å.
I do neither see these letters on the Finnish page and the names are found under A and O?!? This is not OK.
On the Swedish and Danish pages I see Æ, Ø and Å and the Ä and Ö names are printed under the top letters Æ and Ø. This is not OK at least on the Swedish page. There (and on the Finnish page) we might show Æ and Ø names under Ä and Ö.
On the English page I see the names as expected under A and O.
