#1204 GEDCOM synch query

Using SVN (up to 621).

I just added some new INDI records, then did a backup of my gedcom (selected all options for backup except media files).

When I look at the backup zip file, the zip file is timed at 09:37 (correct, that is exactly when it was produced); but the gedcom file is timed at 09:08, which is earlier than my latest additions.

Looking at that gedcom file the latest changes are NOT included.

I know that in this version there is the option to not keep the gedcom file in sync - but I have checked carefully, and I have 'Synchronise edits into GEDCOM file' set to YES, and looking at the gedcom config file itself the variable is set to 'true'.
I also have auto accept, and auto close edit window both set to Yes.

So when exactly does the synchronisation happen?

As a further test - I just did a download of the gedcom file, adn now the changes are included. This seems to suggest that changes are not synchronised at all if auto accept is turned on.

Is this deliberate, or a bug?

And one final check - I did another backup, after the succesful download - and it is still the 09:08 version without my latest changes. So backing up files is no longer of any use - in fact its dangerous. If I re-imported my backup ged I would lose all recent changes!

Seems to be the same pb as :
[ 1534910 ] bet SVN 328 and 336: new info not written to .ged file
    and
[ 1603368 ] 4.0.1 gedcom file and db, not in sync

I just tested this and it is working fine for me.

Are there any errors in your log files?

I have just found the problem where having the user setting to automatically accept changes will not save the changes in the file. Manually accepting the changes works correctly.

I have fixed this in SVN revision 625.

Thanks John. I appreciate the prompt response. I've tested the change and confirm it is changing the gedcom file immediately now. I'll close this bug.

A question though - presumably with this new feature we could turn 'Synchronise edits into GEDCOM file' to false, and remove the gedcom file from the server completely. As has been discussed recently in the Help forum - that would be yet another privacy / security benefit.
However, that returns to the issue of backups. Presumably as the coding stands today, in this scenario there would be no backed up gedcom file at all, except by separately doing an export.
Would it not be a sensible change to have the backup routine always run an export first?
