Support/Help requests

For all those who run into problems with installing or using the program, please use the "Help" forums so that all the users can take a look at the issue and help you out. *Do not* use the Support section to report problems because you might not get a reply to that.

v2.05 out [forms wearing makeup!]

After a bit of a gap, I've decided a new version of phpFormGenerator based on user feed back and suggestions. This new version includes the following additions:
Email field validation
Hidden field type
Envoirenmental variable field
Template

Well, the template bit is not exactly a template. Its built into the program so it uses the same design for all the forms. I've done it this way to see how the users like the idea of adding a various templates to the forms rather than generating them raw. If the look gets a thumbs up by the users, i'll add formal template support with a choice of different pluggable templates. If not, we'll just get rid of it.... read more

Important announcement (please read)

Hello everyone. We are taking some important steps towards making phpFormGenerator more "intelligent". We are exploring different ways in which it would be more user friendly and be able to learn particular trends in user input. We have put up a data mining research project to test some of our ideas. We need lots of test data, so please participate in this project by visiting: http://site1.digitalgurus.net and read the pages. It takes about 2 minutes to read through all of the pages. We definately appreciate all your help. Thank you!

v2.02 - textarea bug fix

The new version fixes the bug in textarea fields which was caused by multiple line input. The admin portal was interpreting a multiple line textarea as separate records.

phpFormGenerator v2.01 Released

phpFormGenerator v2.01 is released mainly as a bug fix for those users having trouble with php's register_globals.

The script uses the HTTP_POST_VARS array instead of the new _POST array to be compliant for all versions of php.

phpFormGenerator version 2.0 released

phpFormGenerator v2.0 has been released! The program has added some great features that would make creating web forms a snap! We have added support to create forms with file uploads, and password fields. Also, for those who don't have access to a MySQL database but still want to store the data from the forms that are being filled out, we have added a file-based database system! This will act just like a regular database and keep track of all the forms that are filled out at your site.
And it keeps getting better!!! We have also added an administration portal for managing the data that is filled out in your forms! This feature can be used with both a MySQL database or the file-based database created by the program.
And whats more... ? a great new site design! our new team members have totally redesigned the project homepage. Be sure to check it out at: http://phpformgen.sourceforge.net . There is a link on the site for demo'ing the new version!
Enjoy the program and be sure to send us feedback!

New team members!

phpFormGenerator has added two team members: Sean and Chris. Chris is the graphics designer and has done some excellent work with the new homepage for the project (due release with v2.0 on Monday, Oct 28 2002). Sean is the new lead webdesigner who has created the new homepage entirely by himself. I definately needed this help and I'm glad these guys could come aboard. So a big welcome goes out to both!

Check out the demo site for the latest version of phpFormGenerator!

version 1.04 is out!

A couple of bugs fixed. A few enhancements added. Introduced a new type of field, namely "password". I realized that most of the forms use this. Also, the database user id and email address are both optional fields now. I realized that someone might not want the form emailed and have it only be entered in the database. Also, someone told me that the database user id might not be required in some cases where the database is setup to accept local connections without any login info. Enjoy!

Bug found ... fixing

A recieved a few complaints regarding the "required" field checkbox functionality. It seems that it was creating some issues when being used. I have located the problem and the fixed version, v1.03, will be out shortly.

New release!

phpFormGenerator v1.01 has been released. The minor change made was to remove the form email field as being required. The user will no longer be required to enter an email address, if none is provided, the form simply avoids generating the code for form mailing. This allows users to create forms that just need to insert data into the database. The email feature however is fully functional, if a valid email address is provided, the for email code will be generated.

Finally its here! The beta version has been released so that power users and developers can do some testing before the final public version is released on Monday. Please not that this beta version is the basic raw system (without the good looks, etc) and the actual public release will be neatly formed and organized with a clean look.<br>

Release due date

We're almost there! A few touches here and there, a couple of days in testing, and its going to be up there for download! The release due date for phpFormGenerator is scheduled to be 11th February 2002 (Monday).

Future Versions

phpFormGenerator v1.0 is almost out, and already my mind is full of new features to add in the future versions of the system. I know that people sometimes need forms with file upload capibility but can't do them since they are a little complicated for the average Joe, so the first enhancement to v2.0 will be file upload capability. The second one which I was suggested by a reviewer was to add postgresql support along with MySQL (which the current version will have). Other than that, I'm hoping to extend phpFormGenerator and include some extra related portals such as membership/login systems, community websites, etc. Any other ideas, or comments regarding the current ones are welcome!
Final date of release of phpFormGenerator v1.0 will be announced tomorrow so stay tuned!

Project website up!

The phpFormGenerator website is up! well atleast part of it is :) The program has is almost complete and will be availible for download real soon. I'm working on its looks right now, so that the users feel extra comfortable in using this system. The 'feedback' portion of the project website ( http://phpformgen.sourceforge.net ) will be done using this program to demonstrate the reliability and usefullness.
