Hey everyone,
As most of you already know, I am the author of phpFormGenerator. Due to the major issues and frequent confusions with the ISPs providing hosting and support for phpFormGenerator, I am considering starting my own service to the users. I am basically thinking about buying a couple of fast dedicated servers and providing web hosting solutions, along with "official" phpFormGenerator support to the customers. If you guys think this is a good idea, let me know. Also, if anyone would want to help out in the initial startup of this "small company", drop me a line.

Thanks

Honestly, I am absolutely tickled pink about this script and would be glad to assist in the bettering of it, in one evolution or another, but my hesitation is in the support to date. You don't appear to have the resources to support anyone. What would this expansion do to allow you to assist?
Quite often questions or inquiries go unanswered in the forums..
Not an attack, just a comment from a respectful user/fan.

Here's your answer. This forum is not a "support" forum. I am not obligated to answer them, or force anyone to answer them either. When I talk about official support, i mean "support", not volunteer help.

Secondly, what resources are you talking about? I have just purchased 5 dedicated servers as a startup. What are you expecting? How are you coming up with the ideas that I don't have resources? Plus this "company" that I am thinking of starting is not a one man show, there are other, established people joining in. In fact, I have been made several offers by ISPs who wanted to do all this under their names. However, I want to do under my direct command since I would know best how to support my program and provide something that is actually useful and cost effective. Again, this is not a like big, money making company start up. I am already employed and do pretty well. This is to make things "official".

My point was, if you are *unable* to get all questions answered here, it might suggest you would be *unable* to do it commercially. To best promote this concept of "going public" you might want to consider moving towards demonstrating that you are *able*. - by showing just how much support you can offer - "for free".. and THEN move to a "for fee" forum. So far it looks as though you've clarified that you are *able* but are *unwilling*. That poses a different challenge.
As for your resources, I do not doubt the technical ones, but rather the resources of being able to provide support - ie your time to answer questions. Being that you are *unwilling* to demonstrate the ability, it leaves the user *unable* to gauge whether you can commercially support this software.. You say you can - Great!
Regardless of whether you intend to launch this for money or pleasure, you might want to consider hiring a Public Relations person. You're not qualified.

why do you think that I am required to answer the forums up to the minute, specially when I am not getting compensated for it? I do answer *all* the forum questions, and infact, I do it quite regularly (almost every day). If you think thats not good enough for a free, volunteer service to the opensource community, you are not in the right place. Again, I utterly dislike people who think everything is their birth right.
Secondly, don't teach me how to deal with people. Due to my profession in academia, I give talks frequently at conferences, receptions, and forums all the time. And I am sure a non people person would be able to do so. Then again, I *am* a no nonsense person. I don't deal with people who give me bull without any solid reasoning, and most of all insist on it. I would prefer that people practice socratic ignorance, but ofcourse it defies pragma for most. Anyway, I tend to ignore and backfire at the extremes. You, my friend, hit the latter. Best regards, and please don't continue this thread. You are adding nothing but pollution, and there is no need for this garbage.
