Hi, i'm new to this stuff but was wondering what is meant by read+write access. Is it this?: right click- properties- check read only (check box)?
If so i have tried this but no joy. I am using windowsXP and i first tried this program under cpanel on my webspace. I had the password problems like others have had, so i've installed the program from this site and done the same with the read-only check boxes. the error i am getting is this:
Warning: fopen(forms/admin/config.inc.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/astas/public_html/forms/process3.php on line 279

Could not open file to write. Please make sure your entire forms directory has read+write access.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give

      Your on the right track.

In CPanel, go to File Manager. Click on folder icons until you see the phpform contents listed. Click on the name 'forms', next to the folder icon. At the right, click 'Change Permissions'. Normally, for cgi-bin content files, all boxes would be checked except for 'group' and 'world' for 'write' permission. In my trial n'error, I found that all 7 boxes must be checked for phpform to complete its functions.

Also, when selecting to send data to MySQL, don't check the box 'Create data file (file based database):'. That's for something entirely different.

      best of luck!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Rob. I now have a new problem where the changes I make in the the read+write checkboxes won't stick. I'm clicking on the 'change' button but to no avail. Don't know what's causing this but its making me laugh with anxiety.
Thanks again and if anyone knows whats going on with this give me a holler. In the meantime i'll get onto my hosting people and try and get some answers

Please help...still stuck...the best advice I got from them was to download and use smartFTP, so I used that to set the CHMOD for each file under 'forms' to 777 and click ok, then SmartFTP tells me the permissions were changed successfully. But when i exit and then return to the files they still read 644 and formgenerator still says the same thing.

      What am I doing wrong?

I miss-typed the last post. All 9 boxes must be checked, hence the 777 appears for each html or php file. Ok, now remember the instructions for setting permissions said the directory, and all its contained files must be set. So you have click on the folder icon, click and set form1.html, global.inc.php, process.php to 777. Then do the same steps for the admin folder.

Also check my post in this forum for URL address. Its the 7th post in 'Could not create MySQL database table.':
      http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=997277&forum_id=149299

      Best of luck!

You are correct. CPanel actions are not taking. When I'm setting the permissions, I'm working form Adobe Golive and selecting the files in the FTP side of the site window. I check the boxes and click 'Set Rights'.

What system are working in, and what programs do you use building html, etc. pages?

Funny thing is, everytime I try to create a form it goes through process1 and process2  thereby inserting a table into my database. So when it says 'could not access process3.php' it doesn't make sense.
I've finally got everything at 777, all files and folders (SmartFTP crashed and when i re-loaded all files were at 777) and cpanel says the same. But formgenerator still says no.
At least when I installed it through cpanel i could make forms although I had the password box appear. Maybe I could try it that way again?
very confusing....Thanks for the pointers tho, keep e'm coming
