This is how I would do it:
- Make a VERY good backup of your existing phpESP DB
- upgrade mySQL to 4.1
- run the mysql4.x_upgrade.sql on your existing phpESP DB
- install and configure phpESP 1.7.1
- test....test....test...
1.7.1 includes code that checks and migrates password from pre mySQL 4.1
to the new 64 bit mySQL 4.1 hash. I've tested it myself, but it's just
released in 1.7.1 so it hasn't seen wide usage. Once you migrate to 4.1
you cannot go back to 4.0 unless you revert to a backup phpESP DB.
