[phpesp-general] Gettext Problem

Hi,
i have no idea how to get gettext working..  the system page and my 
phpinfo says that gettext is enabled and in "real-mode", but the 
Test-string fails.

Does anyone have any idea, how to get this working?

Did you download and install GNU gettext before enabling it?

Hi,

I have not done anything, because i'm using a shared hosting environment.

But my phpinfo suggests that it should be there, or is there another 
gettext-alternative that might be running on my server?

Maybe i should check the gettext-docu and ask my provider to get it fixed.

Thanks for the help anyway - if you got more ideas why it is not working 
i'd appreciate the comment ;)

If the server OS is Debian Linux there is a known problem (and solution) 
in the archives of this list (or was it the devel list).  I cannot 
remember the details, but it has to do with OS locale directories or 
something.
