[phpesp-general] Numeric adds 1

I am using phpESP1.4 on Windows, php4.2 mySQL 3.23 apache 1.3.24  and set up
a survey with a Numerical field (Age). The data is posted to the table
response_text but in so doing it adds an extra '1' at the end. Has anyone
else come across this?
For exemple 
20 in the survey
I get 201 in the Database
