[phpesp-general] install issues

I am feeling very much like a novice here. I can’t seem to set up a config
path that works with this phpESP install.

I have access to the whole server (as I am the root host), but it is a
rented server and I did not do the setup.

I want to use phpESP only on my site, but the recommended directory tree
does not exist (/usr/local/lib/php/etc). I have /usr/local/lib but after
that it is an empty directory. It is not the path to php or mysql packages.

I have tried installing in the html/ directory and in the next directory
below it /home/httpd.

No matter where I go, I get the same message: Unable to open INI file.
Aborting.

I’m obviously putting in the wrong paths, but I can’t seem to find out why.
Right now I have everything in:
/home/httpd/html

I have the operating files (admin, etc.) inside /html/phpESP
I have the public/ folder at html/public

Any idea on what config path I should be using with this setup?
