Alright it is this line in options.php that is removing the leading / characters: $array[1] = preg_replace("/^\W*/", "", $array[1]); Basically it says to remove any "non-word" character from the beginning. I'm not quite sure what you are expecting to find here. You could just use the trim() function to get rid of leading whitespace. Are there other characters appearing that you don't want to display?
