I'm getting the error below when I try to show the completion prompt. This is on jEdit 4.3pre1 and Sun JVM 1.4.2_06. Are there any prerequisites that I need besides jEdit and Java?

This is using the most recent version of the plugin, 0.0.8 I believe. I'd pull from CVS except it appears it hasn't been updated in a year.

I've never tried the plugin with 4.3.
Watching the exception I see it's in the jedit package. I think they've changed the method signature, or something similar.

You can try the plugin with the 4.1, or 4.2 jedit version.

Any hopes of an update to work with 4.3prex in the future?

I don't know, After using the 4.2 for a while I came back to  4.1. I've yet not tried the 4.3. And the plugin have a lot of bugs even on 4.1... And I don't want to make a fork, and I have so little time...
