First, I tried it on my laptop with Linux, putting the genieConfiguration.inc.php into php5 include directory. Result: When running http://localhost/phpCodeGenie3.0.2/index.php it displays empty HTML document.
I tried same on the only windows server I administer, just using the ".htaccess" file putting apsolute URL in. I suppose "edit htaccess directive" mean to edit the file in phpCodeGenie root folder.
There's no other option, as in 99% cases of commercial web hosting servers doesn't provide any access to system files. You can't put any file into php include folder... There might be also problem with the SITE_PATH path, as in most cases you don't know it or it's not easy issue (i.e. when host server uses virtual systems)... I entered local path in my virtual web space (/XXXXXXXXeng/www/phpCodeGenie3.0.2/).
Anyway, the result was same - Genie just displays empty HTML page.
I could smell problems the first moment I had a look on phpCodeGenie installation instruction. It seems it's un-installable on many systems.
Anybody knows anything about those issues?

Oak

Yeah, it's a little bit obfuscated, to say the least.
I just changed my localhost root to */phpcodegenie-3.0.2/web/
and then it worked fine.
HTH.
