DId you try setting this up on Win2K? What happened? Sometimes it's best if you just give it a go...it doesn't take long to configure.
It works for me on WinXP and IIS5, running MySQL.

I am experiencing, as near as I can tell, the same behavior that mr. jensen is experiencing.
I have a Gateway PIII running Windows 2K Professional server, PHP 4.3.4, IIS 5, and MySql 4.0.16nt.
I unpacked the phpbt archive in the document root of the IIS server, used phpMyAdmin to create a database phpbt-test, and then directed my browser to the install script for phpbt.
The database connection test worked fine. I then compeleted the setup by adding an administrator logon and password and saved the configuration. This took me to the very first login screen that you see after a successful configuration.
I logged on, and got the initial screen with the most recently viewed bugs, most recently closed, etc. I then clicked on "Admin Tools" and was directed to a page that said "You must first login before using this page." The graphic that should have appeared at the top of the page was gone (replaced by a broken image icon) and the presentation of the page was different, almost as if the styling had changed or was gone.
So I login again, the page displays appropriately, I click on the "Add a new project" link, and get the same "You must first login before using this page."
I had thought that I found the problem when comparing a php.ini file from a box with a working phpbt and this box, and discovered that the session.save_path was pointing to a nonexistent directory. I changed that value to an existing directory, and restarted the web server: to no avail.
I'm sure I'm missing something totally obvious, but can't tell what. Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

I was having all sorts of problems getting phpBT to work on W2K and IIS while other php applications (i.e. phpMyAdmin) were running without any problems.
Restarting IIS (not just the Default Web Site) seemed to get me up and running with phpBT...
01) Select the webserver server which phpBT is installed...
02) Select 'Action'...
03) Select 'Restart IIS'

Well does it? Anybody got it working? I've just installed phpbt and can't login. I picked password encryption on - is this what causes the problem?
If ANYONE has this working on win2000 server and IIS please let us know. I don't even want to know how you did it - just that it is possible. A one liner will do - yes it works, no it doesn't

YES IT DOES !!!
I've found my problem - my email address was too long and was truncated in the database. This was stopping me from logging in. I found my login details in the table phpbt_auth_user so I can now login and use the bug tracker.
My only problem now is that our internal email addresses are of the form user@server and this is not recognised as valid. I'll investigate this and if I can't fin a solution will start a new thread.

W2K SP3
IIS5
MySQL 3.23.43-nt
PHP 4.1.2
And nobody have been able to help.
I keep getting redirected to login.
And no I don't beleive it is cookie settings in my browser because other sites that use cookies work fine.
