Pre-Alpha 1 Code Package now available for testing!

Hello all,

With the preperations and bugfixes for Alpha 1 well under way, we feel this is the right time to release the bugtracker to the community. This is your chance to help us make phpBB KB as stable as it can be, by reporting any and all bugs you find to us. I've packaged up a svn version as of 14/02/2007 00:30 GMT for download, however it would be great if you could get a checkout from SourceForge SVN as then you are running the latest code. We will also be providing a tutorial on doing this shortly.

Using the package is fairly simple. All the files are in there for a 2.0.x install, so install it as normally and then run the kb_install.php file. After that delete the install and contrib directories and you are done.

Depending on the sucess of this package we may be offering more up-to-date packages for dowload, as well as instructions on how to obtain a SVN checkout.

WARNING: This package is not to be used on a live forum. It may contain bugs and/or security issues that we haven't discovered yet. For the safety of your users and your forum do not use it on a live forum. We will not support anyone doing this.

The package is available for download in two different formats (.zip and .tar.gz), and is available for download via our SourceForge downloads page ( http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=172951 ).

After downloading, installing and finding some bugs, we hope that you will report them to the bugtracker ( http://www.phpbbknowledgebase.com/bugs/ ). It isn't compulsory to register, although it would be helpful as we may need more information on the bug et cetera.

There is a basic support forum ( http://www.phpbbknowledgebase.com/board/viewforum.php?f=11 ) on this board that will only deal with installation issues, issues relating to bugs and basic configuration issues. Please do not report bugs in that forum, use the bugtracker.

We will also provide basic support via our IRC channel, ##phpbb-kb on freenode (irc.freenode.net).

Finally, many thanks for showing continued support for this modification. We know you have all been waiting for a release for some time now.

Remember: If you do think of any features for the MOD write them down as the feature tracker will be re-opening after the release of Alpha 1.

Many thanks for your continued support,

phpBB Knowledge Base Team
