This phpAutoGallery is NOT compatible with windows. It's trying to save files to temporary directories using c:/ ...but you cannot save files with : in windows.
There are many other issues having this product on a windows system, you need to change the .htaccess to something.htacces since windows does not support files to begin with a dot (.) .
Spend 1 hour trying to make it work, but got too many errors, trying to fix the code but nothing worked.
Bad installation support.

Sorry that you don't have Linux,
Support does seem preety lousy but considering the program is free....
If you upload the file to the linux directory on your server via ftp as htaccess you can rename it on the server to .htaccess.
Sorry about your errors, Not the admins fault that you don't know php.
And even if you did know php, .htaccess is required so again, Sorry you waisted an hour because you don't have Linux.
Am I an admin? no. I just like to shove the words of whiners down thier throat because first of all, I work in internet support for a isp. and this is cool stuff!

Go to www.hotscripts.com and find an easy windows-compatable gallery that you can buy and get hand-holding on.

ROFL; AN hour?
I've spent DAYS getting some things to work and learning as I go. Don't complain because you thought there was a "fix" button hidden somewhere.

Hey, guys, don't be mean. The guy reported some issues on the Windows platform, that's all. I don't know if you've ever tried to develop software on the open source model before, but you should be aware that reports of platform-specific issues are A Good Thing.
He had something useful to contribute. How about you?

By the way, on Windows, you can use the Comman Prompt to change the file name:
ren htaccess_dist .htaccess
