Hello, My name is Ely Matos. I've used PHPJavaBridge under TomCat at a past project. Now I'm working with a PHP Framework (that runs under Apache) and I would like to know if integration with Java (to use java libraries and packages) is possible at this scenario (it means, a php application without Tomcat). Thanks for attention, Ely |

Hi Jost, I found the 2.4Stable7 on the official download page. http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/ There are a lot of settings on the proxy server that I think could impact. I hope you will be able to reproduce the issue. Im doing this as a consultant for a huge company, I know the version by requesting a wrong url on purpose, so I got the proxy error mentioning the version but I don't know which system the proxy server is on. My PHP application + tomcat 5.0.27 is on Windows Server 2003 SP2. (I know everything is old, but this server is mainly used to run legacy applications.) Regards, Julien. But I've alredy tried before to run simple script such as sessionSharing.php or numberguess.php and none of them can be reached. I don't have that many users for my applications, I will just ask them to bypass the proxy for the server IP, and it should be ok. >> I guess I will have to ask the end users to bypass the proxy for the server > > Shouldn't be necessary. > WebSockets specification incudes an "idle timeout" Correction: This "idle timeout" is a Jetty-specific implementation problem inherited from the HTTP connection parameter. The spec doesn't mention anything about a server timeout: "At any time, the server may decide to terminate the WebSocket connection ..." But we should wait until the servlet spec includes web socket. WebSockets specification incudes an "idle timeout", which makes it useless for our purposes, too. -- How do they want us to re-connect to the same back end after a timeout? I will simply revert the PhpJavaServlet code to version 5.5. and keep it. However, the standalone JavaBridge.jar runner will continue to use chunked HTTP/1.1 connections, as it doesn't have this timeout problem. The next version, PHP/Java Bridge 6.2.1, will contain the following changes: * Revert changes to PhpJavaServlet and Java.inc. * JSR 223 script engine improvements: FastCGI instead of CGI and getInvocablePhpScriptEngine() w/o the URI parameter for local script invocation and implementation of the Compilable interface. > I will mark PHP/Java Bridge version 6 as "experimental" Done. Current stable download is PHP/Java Bridge 5.5.4.1 The next version, PHP/Java Bridge 6.2.1, will contain the following changes: * Use the WebSocket protocol instead of HTTP/1.1 chunked connection * Dropped support for all application servers which do not support the WebSocket protocol. This means: Jetty 7 only. * JSR 223 script engine improvements: FastCGI instead of CGI and getInvocablePhpScriptEngine() w/o the URI parameter for local script invocation and implementation of the Compilable interface. Hi Brian, you should probably keep using PHP/Java Bridge version 5.x instead. If it is true that the timeout cannot be configured reliably ( see http://marc.info/?l=tomcat-dev&m=115956945015246&w=3 ), the PHP/Java Bridge version 6 becomes useless, until tomcat supports a reliable, persistent communication channel. For example WebSockets. I will mark PHP/Java Bridge version 6 as "experimental" and will check the tomcat 6 source code. Thanks again for reporting this issue! Regards, Jost Bökemeier |

Hi Brian, > sleep(30); the default tomcat keep-alive timeout is 20000ms. If your script doesn't send any data within 20seconds, tomcat closes the connection. Please change tomcat's server.xml to <Connector port="8080" protocol="HTTP/1.1" connectionTimeout="40000" redirectPort="8443" /> (there's no separate keepAliveTimeout; Tomcat uses the connectionTimeout for the keep-alive as well) The hanging at the end of the script is another problem. PHP/Java Bridge 6.0 uses HTTP/1.1 chunked connections, which require a shutdown sequence. From the current Java.inc: for ($this->res=$this->fread(10); strlen($this->res) < 10; $this->res.=$this->fread(10-strlen($this->res))); The "10" is the <F t="E"/>, which is okay. But I should have checked that the connection is still alive. Or simply replace the for loop with fread($sock, 10), as tomcat won't send the 10 bytes one-after-the-other. Thank you very much for reporting this issue. Regards, Jost Bökemeier |

I had a hanging problem but at the same time my script was not working. It was because my I hadn't installed JavaBridge and PHP correctly. I just re-installed both, and I didn't have the problem anymore. It could also be something with the exit function, but I don't know JavaBridge well enough to comment what exactly. I have recently updated my installation of the JavaBridge and I'm seeing some very strange behavior in my PHP scripts that are using the bridge. I'm hoping that someone else has run into this and can give me a quick answer as to what I can do to fix the issue. The problem is with PHP scripts that are being run from the command line that are using the bridge and taking more than 30s to execute. When the script gets to the point where it should exit it just hangs. Below I've included the source code of a very simple script that I've created to reproduce the issue. When I comment out the line to create the String object the script runs as expected. I'm stumped, I've tried many combinations of ideas and nothing seems to fix the problem. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Brian #!/usr/bin/php <?php require_once 'http://192.168.0.198:8080/JavaBridge/java/Java.inc'; $jString = new Java("java.lang.String", "test"); echo "start sleep\n"; sleep(30); echo "sleep finished\n"; echo "start exit\n"; exit(0); echo "exit finished\n"; ?> |

Hi Julien, I can confirm that http://localhost:8080/JavaBridge/test.php will hang, if the browser is set to use HTTP/1.0 only (tested with FireFox -> about:config -> network.http.version;1.0) or if there's a HTTP/1.0 proxy in between. This is because phpinfo() generates its response in HTTP/1.1 chunks. But non-chunked responses work. For example http://yourHost:8080/JavaBridge/sessionSharing.php even when run through a simple HTTP/1.0 only proxy. > requests from the proxy. You mentioned the proxy could make a request > with a url the filter can't parse My mistake. Line 95 http://php-java-bridge.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/php-java-bridge/php-java-bridge/server/php/java/servlet/PhpCGIFilter.java?revision=1.4&view=markup does forward before it returns (I should stop writing more than one statement per line ... :) > I guess I will have to ask the end users to bypass the proxy for the server Shouldn't be necessary. At least my simple HTTP/1.0 proxy can pass the request/result w/o problems. Which product do you use? Regards, Jost Bökemeier |

Hi Jost, Well, okay, thanks a lot for your replies ! The HTTP/1.0 is the only difference I've found between requests from local network, and requests from the proxy. You mentioned the proxy could make a request with a url the filter can't parse, but the urls are ok in the Tomcat http log file. I guess I will have to ask the end users to bypass the proxy for the server IP. Thanks again. Julien Mallet. On Fri, Jun 25, 2010 at 3:51 PM, <php...@li...> wrote: >> I think i got it. > I make changes on loader.php file in JLoader class for auto load the Please contact the Joomla maintainer if you need further help with Joomla. As far as I can tell an unmodified Joomla runs fine with Tomcat, as long as you don't try to load the "Java.inc" PHP library. Please see http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=49618 Please note that this is not a PHP/Java Bridge bug and we cannot help you any further. |

Before doing anything else, can you please disable the PhpCgiFilter in your web-inf/web.xml? It simply returns under certain conditions. If that works, your proxy uses a url that the filter cannot parse. Do you have a packet sniffer (ethereal for example)? If not firebug may also reveil the problem. Take a look at the tomcat log, it should contain GET requests for .php files. > So I tried to rename index.php into index.phtml. I assume you have restarted tomcat after that. -- Interesting. Do you see the requestin the tomcat log? Any new exceptions? > Can you confirm that the PhpCGIServlet mapping is only necessary in > the JavaBridge/WEB-INF/web.xml? Yes. BTW: Did jsr223.jsp return the PHP-generated content or an exception? Hi Jost Boekemeier! Excuse for not respond, my subscription on list was in digest mode and I not see you e-mail. Step-by-step. I create a dynamic web project with eclipse. I configure the project as the tutorial of php/bridge and make all tests and all work. I create my php-fastcgi.exe as suggest by php/bridge and make all tests and all work. I unzip the joomla 1.5.18 on webcontent folder from project and call index.php from root, I make changes on loader.php file in JLoader class for auto load the class by Jimport joomla statement work fine; and the server start ok, without error. but the browser not finish the request and not show the page, but the url is redirected to installation/index.php. with purpose debugging: I get index.php and call the function log_erro() and send the JResponse:toString() to log of Tomcat, and the page is complete, but the browser not show it. thanks. 2010/6/23 Carlos Delfino - Java <ja...@ca...>: > Hi Jost Boekemeier and people from ajbodc@....! > > First, Excuse for my English. > > and I don´t speak and not write in Spanish! > > First I change my loader.php file on line 112 to 114 for load the > classes immediately. > > Second I try access the joomla, he init ok, transfer the request to > installation url, but not finish the response for my browser, I try > with Eclipse Browser, Chrome and Firefox. > > The response is infinity.
