Hello, I'm studying how to deploy a PHP web application as a war file, under Tomcat. The FAQ doc has 2 question about it, but I didn't got the point, as I didn't found a JavaBridge.war to download (just a JavaBridgeTemplate621.war file, that seems minimal). I am understanding for running a PHP app under Tomcat, I must have PHP installed (apart from JavaBridge) and JavaBridge will use this installation. Is it correct? The FAQ mentions to copy files to WEB-INF/cgi, but I am not finding such files. I'm using the last release available on site. My application is already running under JavaBridge, but the test.php shows my php.ini at c:\php\php.ini and not all extensions are loaded, in spite of available at c:\php\ext (I created a virtualhost with Apache using FastCGI pointing to same directory, and the test.php shows all the extensions from php.ini.) Can you clarify this point? Thanks! Ely Matos |

Hei I have discovered a "bug" in the addHeader method of FastCGIServlet. It wrongly asumes that the string it gets after stripping off "Status:" is a number. I am using it with Joomla and the string that is used in the line response.setStatus(Integer.parseInt(line)); contains "403:" - This means that the above line will throw a NumberFormatException. Below is a suggested fix for cleaning up the "line" prior to setting the status. while(!line.matches("^\\d*$") && line.length()>0) { line=line.substr(0,line.length-1); } if(line.length()>0) { response.setStatus(Integer.parseInt(line)); } else { //Could not deduce a number - asume 200 Ok response.setStatus(200); } Regards Hermod * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This email with attachments is solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom it is addressed. Hi Ely, if php crashes, send a bug report to the php developers. Otherwise please be more specific. The context is the java context. You can access the servlet and servlet context, please see our API doc for details. Except for the protocol usage mentioned at the end of the README, there are no options nor "best practices". Once connected to a servlet back end, the PHP script *is* (associated w/) the servlet. Its "best practices" apply to the PHP scripts as well. Hello, I want to write a php application that can run with or without JavaBridge. At first I want just to use Java Context to store global vars that can be shared for all instances of running application, without need to create them at every execution of the script (I was using session vars, but it seems not very smart to me.). So, the script must run under Apache and, for example, Tomcat. I just copy the java and WEB-INF folders (from the JavabridgeTemplate), and tried the following: require_once ("java/Java.inc"); try { $ctx = java_context(); } catch (Exception $e) { $ctx = NULL; print $e->getMessage(); } Using $ctx as a "flag " along the application to use or php session or java context to store the vars. But the script crash at java_context(). :-( Is there some "best practice" or pattern to make this? Do you think the idea is valid? Thanks for help, Ely Matos |

Hi Francesco, please excuse the delay. You're right, I've missed it. The problem is not critical and you already have a workaround, it will remain. The PHP/Java Bridge is mature and won't get any updates except for security fixes (if necessary). Hi And I am just the oppsite - A Java programmer comming into the PHP world (Due to Joomla) I'll dig into this. It might be a syntactical problem here - I thought the JavaBridge was ment to enable my Java classes in PHP, which it also does. But in this case it is a mix of instance and static methods. Well, I am almost sure that if you use the syntax $dateformat->format($mydate); as you mentioned, you are working with PHP classes and methods. You have instantiated your object with a Java class, but everything after is PHP as far as I know (you are using $ and '->') I am a php developer and used the java-bridge only to run php code on a tomcat server, so I might be wrong here, but you are trying to call a format member in php which I believe doesn't exist. Hi, This is a php issue, not a java bridge issue, so using this mailing list is not really appropriate. Please refer to the php data function : http://php.net/manual/en/function.date.php, or using the DataTime object : http://www.php.net/manual/en/datetime.format.php The correct syntax would be $formattedDate = date($format, $timestamp) or (object, assuming you variable $dateformat is a DateTime object) $formattedDate = $dateformat->format($format), with $format being a format string like 'Y-m-d H:i:s' Regards, J.
