Finally, version 3.0 of PHP EMS Tools is available. The download can be found at http://www.php-ems-tools.com, along with a new homepage design! Please be advised that there have been major, sweeping changes. Rig checks now have builtin capacity for multiple rigs, the roster has been updated to allow for multiple, user-defined positions and certifications, and more. Please take the time to browse through the documentation on the site. I have also updated the installation script. If any of you on the list are already using PHP EMS Tools, this release will be incompatible with the database. A few very minor changes are needed. If you email me at ja...@ph..., I can provide you with instructions. More importantly, if you subscribed to the list but are not using the software, please drop me a line and tell me why. Most of the changes from 2.1 to 3.0 were because of suggestions from users, and I'm more than willing to incorporate anything that you want, or do custom changes for your organization - at no cost, of course. I am also planning 4.0 already, which will have support for i18n (internationalization). I already have a volunteer to translate into Spanish, and will be working with him. I've identified a few bugs in the current release with the help of an interested user. I'll be updating the code within the week, hopefully. The major bugs are an incorrect reference to a CSS file in some of the roster and signon popups ("style.css" should be "php_ems.css") and a hard-coding of the rig numbers in the rig check sheets. Unfortunately, the CSS bug is in the released version because of an error on my part - I neglected to merge the change from my organization's custom branch into the main trunk. I should have a new version out within the month, at the latest. I've been working on some customization for a user, as well as assisting him with getting the project (as well as Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc.) up and running. I'll be merging some of the changes into the main trunk as options, as well as updating documentation. If you require any assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. If you find any bugs in the software, please notify me. At the moment, if you know how to do this (or are willing to learn), the preferred method is to submit to the Bugs or Feature Requests trackers at SourceForge. You can also email me, and I will add them for you. At some point in the future, I may be moving to my own bug ticketing system. *NOTE:* Nightly CVS builds are temporarily unavailable! My CVS server decided to lose a *pair* of RAID 0+1 drives (mirrored & striped) within 42 minutes of each other. This brought down the root partition on the server. All CVS repository data should be intact on the drives, but it will take me a while to come up with the cash for a set of 18 Gb Ultra3 SCSI 15k RPM disks, and then a while to restore/rebuild the root partition (and any lost data) from backup. (I'm pretty sure that this machine has data-only backup). As a result of all this, my CVS repo is down. If you're looking for a nightly build, please drop me an email <mailto:ja...@ph...> and I'll send a manual tar of the development version (also, luckily, maintained for active development out of CVS). -Jason Antman http://www.jasonantman.com PHP EMS Tools Developer http://www.php-ems-tools.com Midland Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Midland Park, NJ http://www.midlandparkambulance.com |

I know it's been a long time coming, but Release 2.0 is here! You can find out more information at the homepage: http://www.php-ems-tools.com But let's just say there are bug fixes, lots of new features, and a handy install script. It is coded for PHP5. Also, you can see an online demo at the homepage. Downloads are accessible through the homepage or the SourceForge page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-ems-tools/ And... please... feel free to email me or add to the SourceForge trackers with any comments, suggestions, or bugs. Thanks! Jason Antman |

Greetings, I have finished coding MOST of the first release . I have a few minor changes and additions to make, and some documentation to write, but it IS happening. I expect to have a release somewhere around November 1st. You can keep updated by visiting the PHP EMS Tools Sourceforge page (http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-ems-tools/) and checking the news. I also highly encourage all interested parties to subscribe to the php-ems-tools-list mailing list (subscribe at http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/php-ems-tools-list), on which I will post notices of releases, as well as URGENT information on critical bugs, updates, etc. Also feel free to bookmark the project's homepage, which will have online documentation (http://www.php-ems-tools.com). In order to make this release date, the Dispatch Schedule feature, which provides a weekly text report of which shifts have/do not have complete crews, and who is needed to complete crews, will be withheld until the next release. Sorry for any inconvenience, but this is a complex algorithm and I would rather spend my time getting a first release out. Thanks, Jason Antman Developer, PHP EMS Tools If you have questions about the project, requests for features, etc. please DO NOT reply to this message. You can subscribe to the php-ems-tools-help list at: http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/php-ems-tools-help And post your messages there. Thank You. |
