Hi,
when i try to create CA certificate (first step), an error occur:
Generating new key...
error:0E06D06C:configuration file routines:NCONF_get_string:no value
.........
FATAL: an error occured in the script. Possibly due to a misconfiguration

Ca You help me?

  I experienced exactly the same behavior:
  
  Generating new key...
  error:0E06D06C:configuration file routines:NCONF_get_string:no value
  
  I checked phpinfo.php and made sure that OPENSSL_CONF was included and actually pointed to a file owned by the web server. However since I'm useing mod_php rather than executing PHP as a cgi, this variable may need to be defined somewhere else.
  
  I turned off safe_mode (is this a requirement of php-ca?), but this didn't help.
  
  I adjusted HOME in openssl.conf to point to the directory where openssl.conf is located (basedir of $OPENSSL_CONF), and created all files and dirs refered by openssl.conf, but this didn't help either.
  
  A Google group search for this error returns a lot of hits, but most of them are unanswered questions.

  did you ever get it fixed christian, i'm in the same boat, i did check on ##php on efnet and somone did say it wasn't a php error but was an ssl error, i have also done what you have done.
  
  also using mod_php5 but using the new openssl 0.9.5 on apache2.
