Hey all, I thought you might like to see what I consider to be the roadmap for PhonePing. This of course isn't set in stone and things might move around from the various releases until the code makes more sense. -- Michael -- > Roadmap: > Version 1.0 > - ping a specific IP or a "canned" address > - Ping as many IPs as you wish > - Cancel and try again on input (probably via "**") > - Detect invalid IPs, and try again > - Cancel back to main menu (probably "***") > > Version 1.2 > - Add/Remove "canned" IP via phone > - Add/Remove "canned" addresses via Web Pages (maybe) > > Version 1.4 > - User login (add your own private "can" of addresses) > - More user feedback, like "reading back" what IP Address > you typed in. > > Version 1.6 > - Add other reports like Packet Loss, Response Times, ??? > - Authorized Router reset via "chat" scripts (useful for Intertainer) > (maybe use Caller ID for authorization as well) > > Version 2.0 > - Replace Vgetty with ACS and the modem with a nice > Telephony card > > Eventually move towards more of a network monitor with Phone Support > - Rename the project to something more appropriate > - Get a Network "Weather Report" (number up/down/total) > - Page/Call you with information if certain conditions arise > - Automatically attempt to fix problems by restoring states > - Reconfigure a machine via phone > > > -- Michael -- > |

Hey all, PhonePing.pl v1.0 has just been completed. I will upload to the CVS repository as soon as I figure out how it works. Anyone interested in helping me figure out how to do it? -- Michael -- |
