I stumbled upon pFuel today, tried it out when I filled up,
and I too have this issue using the latest development
release ... 3.06 I think. Anyway, I have a high-mileage
car, and because pFuel will not allow me to enter my
odometer of 142741.45, I guess i will have to stick using
FuelLog until this is fixed.

If you stick with FuelLog you will miss some nice features !!
You can have only 6 digit for the Odometer value this is
because a "float" has 6 significant digit only.
What you can do is set in the preferences the number of
digit for the Odometer/Km to 0 instead of 2. If you do that
you will be able to enter up to 999999

Hi,
For now you can enter only 6 digits in the field. Since
float are
using only 6 significant digits.
