Le Petit Poucet has been released to version 0.1.4.

Main improvements are at the platform and OS integration for Mac, Linux and Windows.

Many other features have been improved including user interface refinement.

Le Petit Poucet GPS software has been released today under tag 0.1.1, this is a test release before version 0.2.

First test release toward 0.2 version.

Updates from 0.1:
- Revamped terrain generation:

Le Petit Poucet 0.1.0 has all features of release 0.0.5 accessible from menus and dialog boxes.

It is released today for Windows and Linux (i386 and AMD64). Mac OS X PPC and i386 releases to follow soon.

Le Petit Poucet GPS Software version 0.0.5 is now available for download in binary format for Apple Macintosh with Intel processors.

Le Petit Poucet GPS Software 0.0.5 is now released as binary package for AMD64 and Linux. The performance gain compared to i386 is between 20% and 40%.

Le Petit Poucet is reaching version 0.0.5. Main improvement compared to 0.0.4 is a smooth integration of the Earth:
- Earth is automatically insterted into the scene using Blue Marble Next Generation data from Nasa.
- Mouse interface is completly revamped and customized to handle Earth-centric scenes as well as projected ones.

Other less significant improvements like text readability have been integrated to this version.; many other bugs have been solved.... read more

Here is Le Petit Poucet release 0.0.4, from 0.0.3, many improvements to the overall rendering and scene manipulation.

Lighting has been modified and corrected to independently set light level on waypoints and terrains.

Waypoints’ caption text display is enabled depending on the eye (camera) distance and waypoint relative weight. This is impacting rendering and scene navigation.

3D terrains generation has been improved too. The application no longer freezes at startup while generating terrains and data download has been optimized.... read more

Le Petit Poucet GPS software 0.0.3 is released for Mac OS X with four great improvements:

* New terrain generation around GPS data (tracks, routes, waypoints).
* Download of imagery of terrain models from the Internet.
* Simplified command line: file loader selection is based on file extension.
* Enlarged waypoint symbol gallery counting 60 3D models.

However, we still could not solve two issues:
- GPS download does not ork properly at least on our test machines (iMac G4, iMac G5). You may use directly GPSBabel to save GPS data to a file.
- Terrain generation does not work on some Mac OS X v10.4 machines (test machine: iMac G5 2GHz). But loading of prerendered terrains works.

- Selection of the display referential, projected or not, and mix of tracks with different projections.
- Loading of GPS data from file or receiver with GPSBabel. It means a lot of formats available.

This release is 0.0.0 made stronger on all aspect from the build to the parser of the Carte Sur Table files. Software architecture is much more mature and clean. We are now ready to add:
- Graphical user interface
- GPS connection and GPS data files

After 18 months, we had to do something about Petit Poucet. Release 0.0.0 is out. It is demonstrating loading of some GPS track file and map using as input a Carte Sur Table file.

We hope to improve it quickly to support more conventional file formats like GPX and other map sources.
