Ok I got a question is there a way to make this software back up each pc every night or is this more of a backup database for the users to login to and back up themselves? =20 ____________________________________________________ But in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. <http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/29769.html> =20 Benjamin Franklin <http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Benjamin_Franklin/> Letter to Jean Baptiste Le Roy (1789) Marshal McInnis T&G Professional Computing Inc 205-344-4455 (208) 720 61st Tuscaloosa Al 35404 =20 |

No it is not, you should receive a max of $maxretry times a mail if you ask for it. However I also got notified by my users that this behaviour occurs. That's why yesterday I committed some new stuff that should solve the problem you described. If you update to the HEAD revision of the CVS-tree you will need to adjust your database. you will need to add a column comp_size to the backuplog table. However if there is no crucial data in your database, the easiest thing you can do is drop the database and create it again with database.sql Regards, LinuxTuxie |

Now that the PersonalBackup system is up and running, I get this error: Invalid dir in smbc_readdir_ctx() This is repeated way too many times, resulting in 'Error opendir: Too many open files', after which the Java applet shows not all the files. Are you sure that the folder "$tempdir" exists (it can be found in /etc/personalbackup.conf) and is world writable/readable ? CGI::Session is going to use this folder to store its session info. So your the user under which apache is running needs to have write access to this folder. That is normal, the folder /var/log/personalbackup is used for the machines that will be backed up, they will place their logfiles in that folders. PersonalBackup itself (daemon & web interface) uses syslog to send its log/error messages. So you should have a look at your /var/log/messages file. Regards, LinuxTuxie |

You can only use admin/admin if you select "database" as authentication method. If you use "ldap" or "passwd", the admin account is not used at all. If you use ldap or passwd, you need to login with a known account and after that you need to run the next sql statement to give that account "admin" priviliges: UPDATE users SET admin='Y' WHERE username='user'; This user can now revoke/grant other users "admin" priviliges via the web-interface. Can you run it with the command line option "-D 0" and "-d" so "./personalbackupd -D 0 -d" What will happen is that personalbackupd will not detach and all messages are printed on the commandline Normally this should shed some light on the issue. >Any clue where to start looking? Hi, I just tried the CVS version of today on my Gentoo backup-server, but the daemon seems not to run. When I start it, it just respawns to the commandline without any warning and no process is running in the background. Any clue where to start looking? Database is OK. Webserver is OK (I get an empty page with a title 'Backup folder definer'. The init.d script can be easily modified for Gentoo, so if you need one, just ask. However you can easily start PersonalBackup by cd'in into your install folder and then run './personalbackupd &' In the next couple of days I will release a major update of the personalbackup code. A lot has been changed already... You can have a look at http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/personalbackup/personalbackup/CHANGES And I am indeed planning to include some init scripts for the different linux distro's in this next release. But I need some time to figure it out myself ;) Any help is gratefully appreciated :) Have Fun ! LinuxTuxie http://personalbackup.sourceforge.net |
