Currently I am looking for people willing to join the project.
Needed are:
- Java developers.
- Testers
- Help writers
Especially developers working on windows would be needet to synchronise some window management things which are different on UX based systems and Windows.
And of course.... working alone is boring ^^
PDM has a new project page at http://www.persdocmanager.de.
Here you can try out the current development version using Java WebStart and many more things.
Have a look :-)
here it is the new version is done and i hope you enjoy it. unfortunately, it is not compatible with 0.6 archives because of database changes
of cause, i could write some convert script if you want some :-)
ok, finally we get close to release the new version.
besides the UI, stability and network fixes, some new features will be included too:
- global search
you may now search for documents through the whole archive using the meta data every document has in common. such as who created the document, when was it created and wich document name it has been given -> documentname therefore will be a mandratory index on every single category you create.... read more
Within the next 3 to 8 weeks, 0.7 will be finished.
We fixed the user rights management,
made the treeview useable and did a lot of stability and UI behavior fixes.
PDM is now ready to be used in networks. while this worked earlier already, with 0.7 it becomes a reliable solution.
So stay tuned for PDM 0.7 folks !
We welcome the following new developers to the project:
kamal, naresh and zulula
Have a good time, I hope you will enjoy the work :-)
Finally the 0.5 version of PDM is now online as an update to the 0.4 version. This bugfixed version now provides all implemented features ( except the option tab which is still only a placeholder) to work as expected. You may now do storing, indexing and recherching any kind of file in the system, using a HSQL database tighly implemented in the system.
This means for example: Unlike in other systems, the database will not run in the background consuming memory if you dont use the program.
All files are stored directly in the database, no files on your harddrive anymore. You can store what ever filetype you want! As long as your OS knows how to open it, there will be no problem.... read more
well, the next steps i will take, before i imrove the "in program" useability is to give PDM a new index creation dialog and replace the old bugy thing :-) after that, i will try to get this to work with a blob data field instead of the file based aproach PDM uses till now.
once this 2 things have taken place, i hope to improve the current features and will then start to see what can be done with PDM to make it more usefull in daly usage.
well, i seek for some motivated java developers to help me getting this thing faster, more stable and secure
you can download and whatch the source with anonymous access here :
svn+ssh://84.244.1.124/home/grayson/repository
if you want to join up the team, you will of cause get an account and write permissions
pdm reached a stable beta stage and therefore i created this page. the source code is currently held in my own SVN and is available through the home page. but will be cleaned up and transferred here soon too. if u want to dig into the program and cant use SVN for some reason, just tell meand i will provide a source.zip for 0.1 here.
currently pdm is fast and stable up to 500 stored documents with 3000 pages ( use it myself at home with no problems) so have fun with it ;-)
