I tried to workaround the limit (128 characters in the egw lang table, which I find horrible). Apart, I thought once about splitting "multiphrase" phrases into separate phrases or shorter phrases (mostly if they repeat at some level). I think it would be better (if possible) to isolate into a "master phrase" like "%1\$d is the %2" (taking that "\$d" is legal), and so get rid of the translation issue. To avoid gender issues, it could be "%1\$d corresponds to: %2" or similar. This means that apart from the "master phrase", people only would have to care about translating the possible values for %2 (as single phrases each), and we'd all be happier.
