Well, I have been thinking about a tentative release date for
perlbox-voice-gtk.0.01 and I keep thinking December 27. The reasoning
behind this is that people will be home from work still, but not so busy
from Christmas that they can't take a little time to check out a cool
new piece of software!
Here is what we have right now:
Command execution is completed (meaning, you say it and it does it)
Vocabulary Editing: New vocabularies can be generated on the fly (the
whole process takes less than a second for a 20 command/response
vocabulary. It seems pretty robust too.
Speech Synthesis: Using Festival, perlbox-voice talks back to you! It is
sooo easy! When the program starts, this robot voice says:
"perlbox-voice for GTK is starting up" and when you click "Start
Listener" the voice says "The listener is awake" after sphinx starts. If
you kill the listener, or if it just dies, it says "The listener has
left the building" When you speak a command and it is understood the
voice says "Command executed is XXXX" where XXXX is the command. If it
did not understand, it says "What? I heard you say XXXX" where XXXX is
what it though it heard. So, there is a lot of potential here for cool
features in the future.
We are missing documentation and the configuration options tab.
Packaging is a major issue also. (It should be noted that the general
configuration is well under control though using Config::Simple and many
of the modules are dependent on that structure, We just need to hook the
interface configuration tab up to the conf file. It is really a simple
thing)
If anyone out there is not up to speed, and wants more information on
what is going on, just reply to this or email me personally at
me...@pe.... If we are going to meet the Dec 27 date, we will need a
little help, so if anyone has any free time...
