Hello All, Sorry about the delayed information on release 1.41, but it was just sort of a Kwalitee improvement release and it fixes a single POD issue so nothing big and updating is not necessary. ### 1.41 2014-08-15, maintenance release, update not necessary - Fixed POD issue with encoding, so we now support UTF-8 for authors names - Minor POD fix by dtikhonov to POD introduced in 1.40 - Adjusted permissions on some files, which were executable for no apparent reason ### I am currently planning to start addressing the issues in RT. We have some nice requests for improvements and features, which would strengthen the Workflow distribution. Hope you all had a nice summer, jonasbn, Copenhagen |

Hello People, I have just uploaded release 1.40 of Workflow to PAUSE, so it will be available on CPAN shortly. The release is communicating the migration to Git/Github and contains the first pull request - YAY. From the Changes file: 1.40 2014-06-01 - Update recommended due to bug fix by dtikhonov in observer handling - Merged pull request from dtikhonov holding a bug fix in observer handling and a feature enabling attribute validation for actions, see the POD added to Workflow::Action - Cleaned up the Build.PL file - Repository migrated from SourceForge, Subversion to git (Github) Looking forward to your feedback - if any jonasbn |

Hello, I have enabled Travis continous integration (CI) testing with Github. I have observed it in use with other projects and it looks promising. I run a Jenkins instance locally also and have been doing so for some time, but getting more tests run on the code base prior to releasing seems to be a good path. I am also using Travis for some other repositories and I have observed failing tests I have not been able to replicate myself, which is nice, since CPAN-testers are only (for now) testing released code. Looking forward to possible future pull-requests, jonasbn Begin forwarded message: > From: Travis CI <not...@tr...> > Subject: [Passed] jonasbn/perl-workflow#1 (master - 0c76423) > Date: 20. feb. 2014 20.33.27 CET > To: <jo...@lo...> > > jonasbn / perl-workflow (master) > > Build #1 passed. 2 minutes and 34 seconds > jonasbn 0c76423 Changeset → > Added Github - Travis integration > Documentation about Travis CI > For help please join our IRC channel irc.freenode.net#travis. > Choose who receives these build notification emails in your configuration file. > > Would you like to test your private code? > Travis Pro could be your new best friend! > Travis CI is powered by > > -- Jonas Brømsø Nielsen, logicLAB www: http://www.logicLAB.org/ eml: jo...@lo... mbl: +45 31546056 Twitter: @jonasbn |

Hello All - just a brief follow-up, I got the releases synced today and I expect to start working from Github from now on, the branches will not be synced, but I think this is a good chance to sort of start from a clean slate. The releases do need some cleaning, but nothing serious. There are several issues (7) in RT (https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Dist/Display.html?Name=Workflow), I expect to keep bug reports in RT, which originate from there, but I do not mind using issue tracking in Github in conjunction. I am very excited with this migration and I have my hopes up for a more active and open development cycle. First release will be a regular housekeeping release, I have some stuff I want to address to get the test suite running and continuous integration running using Jenkins. Thank you all for your support and patience, jonasbn Ps. This mailing list is still hosted with SourceForge, recommendations for alternatives are most welcome. We could request a list on perl.org or similar (http://lists.perl.org/). On 02/02/2014, at 22.39, Jonas B. Hi, Sounds like we are unanimous. Dose anybody know how one goes about mapping usernames, I can create the authors file, but does it make sense to locate people in Github or something? - on e-mail addresses or similar. The project members from SourceForge are: Alejandro Imass Alexander Klink Jim Brandt Martin Bartosch jonasbn (admin) stocks29 From: http://sourceforge.net/p/perl-workflow/wiki/Home/ Alexander, Jim, Martin are all on Github and so am I. I guess stocks29 (http://sourceforge.net/u/stocks29/profile/) is https://github.com/stocks29 but I am not sure. I would love to map possible commits if this is possible. jonasbn On 25/01/2014, at 18.45, Alejandro Imass <ai...@ya...> wrote: > +1 > > On Friday, January 24, 2014, Jonas B. Hello All, I have finally gotten started with Git and I have migrated 2 thirds of my CPAN distributions to Github from Subversion. I would really like to migrate Workflow from SourceForge to Github for project and code hosting. I think this has been requested by different people and I am up for it. The migration would be most beneficial to the project, but for the Github part, but also for other aspects, where I have found the Wiki integration and other tools cumbersome. So unless somebody has issues with this proposed migration I plan to do it soon, hopefully by the end of this weekend. Looking forward to hearing from you, jonasbn |

Hello All, As part of a spare time summer project, I jumped the bandwagon of Questhub. I wrote a blog post about it: http://logiclab.org/wordpress/2013/07/25/questhub-quests-and-cpan/ So the latest release of Workflow, 1.39 was a pure maintenance release with a fix up of the Changes file so it now adheres to CPAN::Changes::Spec (https://metacpan.org/module/CPAN::Changes::Spec). Take care, jonasbn -- pauseid: JONASBN email: jo...@cp... twitter: jonasbn blog: http://logicLAB.org/ |

Hello People, Just a heads up. I have just uploaded release 1.38 to CPAN. From the Changes file: ### - Patch to minor bug where Worflow history did not set proper timezone in Workflow::Persister::DBI https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=85380 [RT:85380] - Added information on issue with Perl 5.8.8 in the INCOMPATIBILITIES section - Updated ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS section - Corrected some minor POD issues ### The issue mentioned in the INCOMPATIBILITIES section is also documented in RT:86758 https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=86758 I cannot replicate the issue, which has existed for some time. The issue seems to be with Perl 5.8.8 perhaps even only with multi-threading enabled. If anybody are able to assert these facts please let me know. I will put in some effort to investigate, but Perl 5.8.9 woes under perlbrew on my machine. Any opinions on specifying 5.10 as the minimum Perl version supported are also most welcome. Feedback, bug reports, anything - most welcome, have a nice summer... jonasbn |

Hello All, Yesterday I released Workflow 1.36. This is a minor bug fix release, addressing a minor issue introduced in 1.35. The bug was pointed out by Oliver Welter (thanks Oliver) The patch being evaluated in 1.35_1 will be included in 1.37, which will go out shortly. Have a nice summer, jonasbn |

Hi Jonas, I need to come back to that really old post as I made a mistake when creating the patches, so the upstream code now misses one very important change. In Workflow::Factory, Line 401 the invocation "Workflow->new" needs to be replaced with "$wf_class->new". A patchfile against 1.35 is attached. sorry for the inconvenience Oliver On 24.09.2012 08:48, Oliver Welter wrote: > Hi Jonas, > > please find attached another patch that enables users to have a custom > class for their workflow objects. Hello All, I have just uploaded release 1.35 to CPAN. From the changes file: - Applied patches from Scott Hardin implementing lazy evaluation of conditions - Applied patch from Oliver Welter implementing support for multiple factories https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=18159 - Added patch from Oliver Welter implementing the feature of creating custom workflow classes, in addition a patch to silence some warning emitted during test from Workflow::Validator - Added patch from Scott Hardin implementing nested conditions - Added patch from Steven van der Vegt RT #52841 implementing autorun for the INITIAL state https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=52841 - Added patch from Steven van der Vegt RT #52862 improving the reporting on validation exceptions https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=52862 - Eliminated README and migrated information into the main POD and introduced INSTALL file for the installation relevant information. Hello, As you can see from the test reports, we are sometimes bitten by an issue with XML::Simple not having access to a parser engine. An example: http://www.cpantesters.org/cpan/report/45291738-d21b-11df-ba85-dfa02e3c0eaa As for installing an XML parser, we could use the Module::Build "recommends" section, ref: https://metacpan.org/module/Module::Build::Authoring Does anybody have any opinions on this approach? The code could look at follows: recommends => { 'XML::SAX' => '0', 'XML::Parser' => '0', }, If people have an opinion on the choice of XML parser, I am all ears. jonasbn -- pauseid: JONASBN email: jo...@cp... twitter: jonasbn blog: http://logicLAB.org/ |

In the context of the recent developer release 1.34_2 and the patch from Scott Hardin, I looked briefly at: RT:18159 https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=18159 Does anybody want to weigh in on the issue and the patch - are we solving the problem described or do we need to do more... I will look at it also, but comments and suggestions are most welcome... jonasbn -- pauseid: JONASBN email: jo...@cp... twitter: jonasbn blog: http://logicLAB.org/ |
