This works for me:

$win->SetForegroundWindow();
$win->btnHide()->SetFocus();

I.e. the difference from your attempt is that I also call SetFocus on a 
control in the window. This may or may not work for you, I haven't followed 
the thread too closely. The first call really should do it, so I'm not sure 
why your solution doesn't work.
