It sounds like a... dubious idea to me :) But try this: in the main event loop in Tk (if there is one), call Win32::GUI::DoEvents(); Or if there isn't one, try rolling your own main event loop in Win32::GUI and call both Win32::GUI::DoEvents() and the Tk analogue. What do you mean by custom widget?
