Well, if all you want is text formatting, I suggest using html2rtf and 
RichEdit.  The program is available here: 
http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/~sburke/html2rtf/ (this page describes how to 
use the program; you can get the file itself from a link near the bottom of 
the page).  (One caveat: html2rtf can't do tables.)
