[perl-win32-gui-users] Adding newlines to TextFields

Does anyone happen to know how do I go about adding a newline to a standard text field without the square non alpha numeric character showing up? It's probably simple, here is the code i'm using currently:

$Main->tfOutput->Append($msg." \n");

This code DOES create newlines, but it contains a square at the end.
\r\n does the same thing and \r does nothing
