Why not to use Text() method to clean it?

Something like
$windowName->TextFieldName->Text('');

I am reading a file and displaying the contents of the file into a
mulitline
text box in my script.  I need to find a way to delete any text that is
in
the textbox before i do the append.  Anyone have any ideas?
