[Perl-pdf-devel] Parenthesis

I've tried passing parenthesis and backslash into $page->string() to no
avail.  This is the sort of thing xpdf spits out:

	Error (573): Arg #0 to 'Tj' operator is wrong type (error)
	Error (631): Illegal character ')'

Does anybody know why this is and what other characters may cause a
problem?  I'm trying to take various ASCII texts and turn them into PDF's
so I have no way to no in advance what characters may be in there.
Dealing with unprintable characters was anticipated, but I'm surprised it
doesn't handle parens cleanly!
