The Net::LDAP modules do not do anything smart with the strings you pass in as attribute values - they get sent to the LDAP server as-is. However you may find your LDAP server does not support the T.61 character set, and instead it will use ISO 8859-1. Such an LDAP server is non-compliant with RFC 1778. I would advise using LDAPv3 instead, as there is much better support for UTF-8 in LDAPv3 servers. Cheers, Chris |

This is a topic that I am also interested in, but it doesn't have anything directly to do with perl. Does anyone know if there is a newsgroup/forum /mail list that specifcally address issues with AD and LDAP? I have collected a few things from this list (thanks) but seeing other people's questions helps to sharpen my thinking. I would like to see this list stay devoted to perl/LDAP issues. Hi, I'm trying to download the data from a server using Net::LDIF package. After that I need to modify the data in the ldif file and update another = directory server with this data. Is it possible to do so?? If anybody has done this before please let me = know how to do this. Basically, I'm pulling out all the data for some base on one server and = dump it into an ldif file and then modify the dn information, then = export this information on to another server. I've worked with the 0.99 version of Schema.pm you posted earlier and added =
some functions I needed:
- _get() now can take the name of an schema element or a hash ref to a=20
schema element.
- functions which return arrays now can also return a ref to the hash that=20
was used to construct the array. This makes comparisons very easy, e.g:

I believe it depends on the LDAP server you're using, that is, what is the default matching rule? OpenLDAP supports booleanMatch, but that matching is not part of RFC 2252. as a workaround, caseExactIA5Match should work just as well. I'm not an expert, though. :-) Kjetil T. |

Comparing with other attribute definitions, I noticed that this one did
not have 'EQUALITY' or 'SUBSTR' or ... as specificed in
others. Wondering if this was the cause of the problem that comparison
did not work. Time to bug our directory administrators?

(authPasswordMatch etc) though, and Clif was asking about userPassword.
