$ldap->moddn question

I'm using perl-ldap-0.22 and I'm having problems with the moddn option 
newsuperior.

Can anyone give me more information on this option? Is it operational in version 
0.22? What exactly does this do?

Based on what I've looked at for moddn, it allows you to rename the RDN for an 
entry but also move it to a new location.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
