IBM's LDAP v3.1.1

Hi,

Has anyone used Net::LDAP with AIX and IBM's V3.1.1
LDAP server?

I am trying to get started, but cannot get past bind
it fails with a error code of 1.  The meagre logs
from slapd show that a connection is made but that's
all.  I know that IBM's server is standard because I
use openldap + gq to read it across the network.
