Folks,

I used LDAPS and it works fine.  I used ethereal on my machine and 
looked at all the packets and the data is encrypted.

my $lds=Net::LDAPS->new('myOracleOid',
                        version=>'3',
                        debug => '12',
                        cafile => 'oracle.pem',
                        port => '636',
                        );
