Not a problem, but I see that the best source of advice for this one (the 
OProfile people themselves), have responded with some info.  For those who

As an aside, I think the OProfile manual is a good source of information, 
not only for that project but on the general topic of sampling profilers 
and some things to consider when working with one and interpreting the 
results (PerfSuite uses statistical sampling also).
