You should not have to delete the pipe. If nothing works while the pipe is
there, this is a bug. Please report how you managed to have that (your config,
what you did...)

In future nagios-2.0, nagios directly writes to that pipe, without the help of

This is possible, in more ways than you think. Please read the documentation
in the doc/ directory of recent perfparse source packages.
However, with nagios-2.0 that is able to write directly to the pipe, it's
better to have perfparse running as a daemon and reading that pipe. The Perl
script perfparse_nagios_pipe_command.pl is provided for nagios-1.2 users who
want to do like testers of beta releases of nagios-2.0.
