It should be right. I "make install" the libpfm by the default config file and I checked that directory and it shows:

lrwxrwxrwx  1 root  root       15 2009-09-23 15:44 libpfm.so.3 -> libpfm.so.3.9.0

that's the time I compile and install them yesterday.
