You can easily get PenguinTV to try downloading
hundreds of files simultaneously.
There should be a user definable limit to how many
attachments it tries to download at the same time and
that number should default to 4.

Although all of the downloads will have "working" icons,
only three files are downloaded at a time. The rest are
just waiting to be queued up. There isn't any UI that
indicates this, however.
the number of simultaneous downloads is not 3 as in the comment from 2006, but in 3.60.0 it is set to 5 (way to much IMHO) - I reduced it to 2.
Here's a patch to reduce the downloads from 5 simultaneous ones to 2 (adjust to your liking) - A UI would be nice to have, but at least you can configure it in the sources..
